RYAN WHIDDEN
U18 Head Coach
A native of Hardisty, AB Ryan grew up playing various levels of minor hockey that lead him on the path of moving away from home at the age of 15 to play major Bantam and Midget AAA hockey in Leduc, AB winning a Western Canadian Championship. This experience helped lead him to his Junior hockey playing days for the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Junior A Hockey League, where he eventually settled and currently resides with his family.
Through his years of experience playing hockey and being coached by some great mentors and leaders along the way, he found his passion for coaching. He now has more than 20 years of experience coaching all levels of minor hockey, Bantam AA, Bantam AAA and Midget AAA in Sherwood Park, AB.
"I am a strong believer in supporting and encouraging my teams to not only become better hockey players individually, but also becoming better teammates as well. Hockey is a team game and every player on our team will be a part of building a culture that the players can be proud of and want to become leaders. We as coaches learn just as much about the game and our players as the players learn themselves, which creates an environment of respect, buy in and belief for all members of our TEAM. " - Ryan Whidden U18 Spartans Head Coach
