GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY
2022/23
The Spartans pride themselves of not only being good hockey players, but good citizens as well. Having adopted the Gibbons community, The Spartans ensure that we have our presence there. We supported the Gibbons Pioneers with a joint Terry Fox run within the community, participated in the Gibbons Community Night. The Spartans have also laid a wreath on our behalf at the Gibbons Remembrance Day ceremony. We have also helped when the call was needed to help the Ladies Auxillary set up and tear down for their Christmas Market.
The Spartans also made a special trip to the Lamont Seniors Lodge to spend time with the seniors during the toughest times for most of them. The U15 players made special care packages and delivered them and spent time with the seniors during the Christmas month. It was a chance for young and old to sit and enjoy each others company. It was a moment to reflect that we must also care for those before us as we care for those after us.
2023/24
This year we were able to provide help with the Gibbons Food Bank in their yearly drive by helping stock shelves. We were also fortunate to be invited to set up Christmas trees in Sherwood Park for the seniors home. We also laid three wreaths on behalf of the organization a the the Gibbons Remembrance Day ceremony as well as help the Legion and Ladies Auxillary with clean up and sandwich handout at the Legion. We continued to work with the Ladies Auxillary for set up and tear down for their markets.
